Professor Maeyama has been member of the IGN since 1966. The main aspect of his work is the history of astronomy. Within this field he is mainly concerned with Babylonic, Hellenistic, Chinese and European (16. and 17. century) astronomy.

Prof. Maeyama works together with Dr. Lis Brack-Bernsen (Regensburg) on a project concerning Babylonian lunar theory and with Dr. Kühn (Reutlingen) on Kepler's planetary theory.
